Hotel Mural. Fundamental Advisors in New York City connected us with their new project in Chicago for The Blackstone Hotel gym. We had completed another project together a few years prior. For this space, they wanted a similar style to the New York gym. The content in New York consisted of layered street art and also wheat pasted posters. This time, we referenced a lot of local Chicago teams and iconic Chicago athletes’ quotes.
Check out some photos of the completed installation below:
The Chicago skyline in high contrast safety orange stands out against the ghostly graphic Wrigley Field signage. Quotes provide a finer scale level to the wall, and elements create an overall layered look.
In the closer pictures, the layered graffiti textures become more visible.
“Try not to suck”, words to live by from Joe Madden.
It wouldn’t be Chicago without a nod to the greatest of all time, Michael Jordan. Poor guy he’s dunking on is getting posterized eternally.
We rounded the corner here and kept the content moving towards the next room.
The kitchen has mostly baseball references – is that Harry Caray, or maybe Will Ferrell? “If the moon was made of cheese, would you eat it ?”
