The process of painting the Brooklyn Outdoor Mural for FarmOne was so much fun!

Last May, we were contacted by FarmOne’s founder and CEO, Rob Laing. He was interested in commissioning us to paint a large-scale mural in their upcoming location in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.

First, he encouraged us to visit their original farm in Tribeca to help us understand what they do. We didn’t know much about vertical farming, but we were very interested to learn more about the indoor farm’s process. We were lucky enough to do a taste tour of various plants and vegetables they grow during the visit. In addition, everything we tried tasted so fresh and rich in flavor. It didn’t take long for us to understand why FarmOne had taken off!

Afterward, we worked with Rob to design something that felt right for the neighborhood and for FarmOne. They wanted to make sure that the neighborhood would embrace the outdoor graffiti mural because it felt like part of the community. Local is an important message in their mission. And that is why Rob was also excited to work with Graffiti Arts’ local artists.

Together we worked on various concepts for this Brooklyn outdoor mural. Of the ideas, the message that stood out was “What Would You Attempt If You Knew You Would Succeed?”.

Vertical Farming is a new approach to farming, and it has had many speculators. But that didn’t stop FarmOne’s mission. The saying reflects the company’s resiliency and offers an inspiring message to the local community.
