Spray Paint Mural For NYC’s La Dama Restaurant

We recently completed a spray paint mural for a new restaurant in NYC’s financial district! La Dama is a Mexican restaurant, located at 66 Pearl St.

For this portrait mural, we worked with the owner on making his vision come to life. The concept was to mix the bright colors of Latin American culture with a Statue of Liberty theme. We began by creating a solid background, which resembled a sunrise. Later, we created the portrait that tied the restaurant together.

On the day after Halloween, Latin America celebrates a holiday called Dia de los Muertos. Consequently, many people paint their faces to look like skeletons. November 1st is a “day of the dead”, therefore it is an event steeped in tradition.

The spray paint mural looked rather plain once we finished the foreground. As a result, we added some shapes and symbols to create more texture. The finished spray paint mural is highly active, however its activity does not draw attention away from the portrait.

We created this Statue of Liberty graffiti by using spray paint exclusively. Check out photos of the finished artwork below, along with installation photos.
