Restaurant Graffiti Art for Dave’s Hot Chicken in Northridge, CA

Restaurant chains often come to us looking for “graffiti art,” but what they usually mean is spray-painted imagery, not graffiti lettering. Franchised operations like Dave’s Hot Chicken rarely allow artists to paint actual graffiti lettering on their walls. We work within that reality by leaning into a freer creative process, one that lets each location develop its own visual identity while the branding stays consistent through signage. The result is restaurant graffiti art that stands on its own, with a local feel that fits the neighborhood it’s in.

The Creative Approach

For this Dave’s Hot Chicken location, we designed spray-painted imagery that gave the space personality without competing with the brand’s signage and identity. The goal was a space that felt distinct to Northridge while staying recognizably Dave’s Hot Chicken.

The Challenge: Painting Upward Stencils

One of the standout elements is a series of chicken head stencils painted directly on the ceiling. Spraying upward with a stencil is harder than it sounds. Our solution was a cardboard stencil with drilled-out holes, stiff enough to hold its shape while our artist worked overhead.

Built for a Growing Chain

This was the first Dave’s Hot Chicken location we’ve painted, but the client had worked with graffiti artists before. What they needed this time was a partner who could scale with them nationally. With a design team and artists working coast to coast, plus project managers who can plug directly into new store construction timelines, we were positioned to be that partner as they open more locations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you paint graffiti-style art for a franchise location?

Yes. We regularly work with franchise brands, adapting the design to fit brand guidelines while still giving each location its own visual character.

Do you work with multi-location restaurant chains?

Yes. We work with restaurant and retail chains expanding into new markets, and our team can scale alongside new store openings.

How do you keep brand consistency across multiple locations?

Signage and core brand elements stay consistent, while the artwork itself can flex to reflect the local neighborhood or store layout. This keeps every location on-brand without every mural looking identical.

Can you integrate with construction timelines for new store openings?

Yes. Our project managers work directly with construction and build-out schedules so the mural is ready alongside the rest of the buildout.

Do you only paint spray-painted imagery, or actual graffiti lettering, for restaurants?

It depends on the client. Many franchise brands prefer spray-painted imagery over graffiti lettering, but we’re happy to discuss lettering-based concepts where the brand allows it.
