Graffiti Arts created a Paralympics Mural and collaborated with CSM Sport & Entertainment Agency and Citi for this year’s Paralympics.

Part of a multi-city initiative, the murals celebrate the athletes’ achievements. They encourage the public to #StareAtGreatness and help to change the perception of people with disabilities. Our task was to replicate the fine artwork by disabled artist BD White to raise awareness. Additionally, BD White was even there for a picture (shown above) with the final piece!

Despite his spinal injury, BD White has earned a reputation as a prolific street artist. He uses spray paint and stencils as his primary mediums.

Initially, BD chose to use a dry brush style to depict motion in all the athletes. In addition, he chose to highlight the phrase “Sunlight over me no matter what you do.” As a result, this phrase complements the campaign’s Stare at Greatness movement.

Inspired by his style, our mural painters chose spray paint as their medium to replicate BD’s work. In particular, his work is an excellent example of the broad range of paint that can be used to produce this beautiful piece.

The mural depicts four incredible athletes: Scout Bassett (Para-Athletics), Brad Snyder (Paratriathlon), Nicky Nieves (Sitting Volleyball), and Trevon Jenifer (Wheelchair Basketball).

Without a doubt, we are happy with our Paralympics Mural campaign’s success and our involvement!
