Anamorphic Mural. When given the chance, we are always fans of painting optical illusions! We partnered with Vanzee Sign Co. again to create a new anamorphic mural for the Local Projects office in NYC. An anamorphic design looks like a flat image when viewed at one specific viewing point. However, when viewing the mural from other angles, it becomes a warped and abstract image. In this case, the client came up with the word “Yes.” We painted the design across many surfaces including ceiling beams and windows. Check out the photos and videos of the installation below:

In the above video, the content comes together and breaks apart as the location of the camera changes.

As the photographer steps closer to the wall and moves away from the principal viewing angle, the elements begin to separate.

Away from the wall and further from the true angle, we can see the different surfaces and pieces. It’s cool how an anamorphic mural flattens in the proper viewing plane.
